Fan since the we believe season in 2006-2007 #dubnation
New fans don't know this guy!!
The run and gun era!
This low key made me cry cuz I remember all this shit playing out!
Ah yes…Don Nelson, remember him well. Fm his playing days in Boston to his coaching yrs with Warriors and Denver Nuggets. Great coach.
This is where warriors dynasty started
Might have made it to the Finals if he didn't trade Mitch Richmond away for that bum Billy Owens.
Only bandwagon NBA fans say the Warriors had no fans before Curry and the gang.
Don Nelson may not have had the flashisst team but that 2007 team was legit. Baron Monte and Jason knew how to play the game right!!
One of the best coach
I’ll never forget watching that Mavs series and knowing the Warriors were going to win….and yeah Michael Thompson need to invest in some damn braces..yuck ass teeth
Man I've been wondering where Don was!
Who remembers blazers vs warriors lmaoo
As a Mavs fan, it's sad that such a great coach never won a ring but, in a way, he's gotten the last laugh. The Mavs owe him a lot and his son is still making moves for the organization. He was the one who discovered Dirk and traded for Nash who wasn't highly regarded at the time and his father developed both players. He was the one who Michael Finley had the best seasons of his career with. The Mavericks were always able to score with any team when he was coaching them and even though they went away from that a bit when he left, with his son choosing the players, the Mavs always had a bit of that mentality even with other coaches.
Back when he was running small lineups that shot their opponents out of the gym with Run TMC in Golden State and the Big 3 (Dirk, Nash and Finley) in Dallas and then when D'Antoni emulated his system in Phoenix, most pundits said that the system would never win in the NBA. Now everyone is trying doing it. In a way, every ring that the modern Warriors get is an extension of his legacy…
Yeah I been smoking some pot.
This is where the Run and Gun West Coast Offense came from. Dantoni gets the credit for what Don Nelson invented.
GO WARRIORS JUNE 13, 2019!☺
Also worth noting, is Nelly's second incarnation with the Warriors in 06-07', he authorized high volume 3 pt shooting. Before it's what was considered ill-advised. Now less talented teams rely heavily on the 3 ball to compete against stronger teams.
