Famed Master Knife Maker Bob Kramer makes excellent and expensive chef knives. We had no idea Scottie Pippen is a fan of knives and Bob Kramer had a collaboration with Scottie Pippen on creating and auctioning the knife called “One World”, where proceeds will be donated to ColorOfChange.
In the press release of Bob Kramer newsletter —
We are very flattered to announce the endorsement and partnership with one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Mr. Scottie Pippen. Through our mutual appreciation of knives and our commitment to bring awareness to social injustice and fight racism, Mr. Pippen and I have decided to bring as much attention to this auction as we can. We feel that this is a great vehicle to show the world how we all can work together to create friendship and beauty in the simplest of things. All proceeds will be donated to ColorOfChange.org

DESCRIPTION (As described by the Auction Information)
OUR INSPIRATION
The times are certainly changing. The year 2020 seems to be a calling for us to slow down, be introspective at times uncomfortable, and to take each other into consideration. Here at Kramer Knives, we are grateful to be able to work during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the pandemic, the other moment that is pushing us to look deep, get uncomfortable, and acknowledge an ugly truth is the uprising of those suffering from the systemic racism in our country. And we believe strongly that Black Lives Matter. Masked and at a distance, we are asking each other how we can make our creations represent this moment in time – this moment in history. How can we make a difference?
The knife we will be auctioning this week is our response to the question, “What can we do to help?”. Combining the unique talents of each member of our team over the last month, this finished piece requires you to stop and look a little deeper at the underlying pattern. Clasped hands weave through the blade. Upon the first glimpse, you might see just the hands of black and white. Look closer. The hands of diamond and circular Damascus are part of the pattern representing the undercurrent of systemic racism that’s been there since the beginning, but not easily seen or acknowledged.
About the Blade
The base material for this 11” chefs knife blade consists of micro melts of steel that Bob cooked up here in our shop. From there he combined some commercial tool steels which were forged into various forms of Damascus to create the patterns. The base Damascus has approximately 400 layers of alternating high nickel steel laminated to non-nickel tool steel. Everything was hardened to 62Hrc. This stunning handle is made from stainless steel, engraved and inlaid by Mastersmith Tom Ferry. The four interwoven hands are inlaid with fine silver, 24k gold, and copper. The display stand is made from ebony.
Please keep in mind this blade is made from similar steel to that of a fine Japanese sword and needs to be kept clean and dry or surface corrosion could occur.
