It’s okay to be optimistic, but what exactly did Jets fans see from this performance that makes them so confident in Darnold? All I saw was a mediocre performance in a pre season game against backup defenders.
He looked really good… So far, I’ve been impressed with Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, and Sam Donald… Josh Rosen is OK, but very stationary, he’s going to be injured in his first year Because he’ll get sacked so often.He’ll end up just like Sam Bradford.
Definitely a pure pocket passer and quick release. He's ranked first out of the quarterbacks in the draft for me then Baker then Jackson then Allen.
Not believing all the hype just yet. They made the game plan as simple as possible for him. Didn't ask him to throw the ball down field much, and when he did he couldnt connect. Arm looks decent but not great. Threw the ball pretty well out of the pocket tho. Baker still the better QB in my opinion.
Baker Mayfield is like 25 years old…Sam Darnold is 21 years old. Darnold > Mayfield and it ain't even close.

He looks good. But he got hit a lot in that game.
He reminds me of Alex Smith with all the short, accurate throws, occasional deep ball and running to pick up yardage. I think he can be really good if his team doesn't let him down.
I will never understand why the Browns passed Darnold or even Rosen. Baker doesn't look bad but and Baker could be great but the ceiling just seems so much higher on this kid.
His last throw was the most brilliant one. That's a tough one
